Here is the finished  acrylic painting 8x10 inches from the previous class using only three primaries, cad red, yellow mid and ultramarine plus white
see previous for photo inspiration.
The  next class will be a UFP ..unfinished paintings before we start on a palette knife or more corrrectly a painting knife class on  August 9. Please contact me for more details as there are a few casual spots left.

Landscape painting class Noosa Heads week 1, acrylic painting, small painting

This weeks class was about landscape composition and colour mixing 

using 3 primaries only, Cad Yellow, Cad Red and French Ultramarine using Atelier Interactives and Painting Medium on loose canvas. 

This finished painting is 8x10" and is in the centre below the newspaper photo used as reference.

The completed landscape should be posted next week

Abstract Painting Techniques using Masking Fluid Published article

I wrote this earlier and forgot to post it, the magazine is still available

I have had many painting projects published, but Im so excited as this is the first one on abstracts using masking fluid. There will be another available in July

There are two simple projects  as shown above . Traditionally Masking fluid is used on watercolour paintings but Ive discovered it can also be used on canvas as long as the paint used to cover it is not too thick.

a challengingpainting in acrylics for even an experienced artist. Almost complete

Inspiring Charcoal and Acrylic Painting on canvas

Di started on this mixed media black and white toned portrait of an elderley mongolian woman from a lonely planet image on a large canvas about 1x1 metre. Initial drawing was done with pastel and charcoal , washes of ink on the background followed by highlights of grey acrylic. Classes are on break until June so check back after that for an update.

Drawing and Painting Classes Noosa

Drawing as part of our day classes has  continued on from last term and has been very popular,
Last term we looked at contour and gesture drawing, this term we got down to the basic elements of drawing, 
Straight and curved lines and the relationships between them, horizontal, verticals , diagonals, curves, circles and spheres. This laid the groundwork for drawing an object realisticly  using the pencil to judge size and proportion

In our last lesson tone was introduced using hatching  and  cross hatching to  add tone to a group of objects
